Terms and license
Updated 31 July 2026These terms cover your use of the Stray Finds application and this website. Stray Finds is published by Caboche, a Belgian sole proprietorship (full identity in the legal notice).
Buying
Purchases are made through Polar Software Inc. as merchant of record: Polar is the seller of the transaction, and its terms govern checkout, invoicing, VAT, and refunds. Because the license key is delivered immediately, at checkout you expressly consent to immediate delivery and acknowledge losing the EU 14-day right of withdrawal once delivery has begun. Your statutory rights regarding conformity of digital content are not affected.
The license
Buying Stray Finds gives you a perpetual, personal, non-transferable license to install and use the app on up to two Macs you own or control. You can free a device yourself, in the app's settings or through Polar's customer portal, and activate another. There is no subscription and the license never expires.
Updates
Your license includes every update we release in the 12 months after you buy it. When that year ends, the app keeps working exactly as it is, and you can always download and reinstall the last version your license covered. A renewal, priced at a discount to a full license, adds another 12 months whenever you decide the new features are worth it. Renewing is optional and never automatic: a lapsed update window costs you nothing but the newer features.
Releases that carry an important security or data-loss fix are exempt from this: they install even when your update window has ended, so a fix always reaches you.
The included AI
Your license includes a starter allowance of AI credits so classification works out of the box, once per license: a renewal extends your update window, not your credits. Credits are consumed by use, and you can add more with prepaid top-ups. Nothing is ever charged automatically, and an unused balance simply waits. The included allowance and top-ups are finite prepaid amounts, not a lifetime supply of AI usage. You can instead connect your own AI provider key at any time, free, with the same functionality. We may limit patterns of use that abuse the included allowance.
The free trial
The app is free to use for 7 days per machine, with a small included AI allowance. Trial issuance is rate-limited to prevent abuse.
Your data
Your memos are yours and stay on your Mac. See how your data is stored and the privacy policy.
What you may not do
You may not redistribute or resell the app or license keys, share a license beyond the devices above, or reverse-engineer the app except where the law expressly permits it.
Warranty and liability
We build Stray Finds with care and it must work as described. Nothing in these terms limits the rights EU consumer law gives you, including the statutory conformity guarantee for digital content. Beyond what that law requires, our liability is limited to the amount you paid for your license, to the extent Belgian law allows.
Governing law
These terms are governed by Belgian law. If you are a consumer in the EU, you keep the protections of the mandatory rules of your country of residence, and disputes can be brought before the courts your local law designates.
